Tips for Managing Duplicated Contacts in Dynamics 365 Sales: Queue-Tips

It is natural in a sales organization for duplicate contact records to creep into your data. Whether it be from manual entry or bulk import, duplicate records can be frustrating. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales helps you address potential duplicates by providing duplicate detection for active records such as contacts.
As an example, let’s say you enter a contact record for Robert Belcher and hit Save. The duplicate detection rule detected that you already have a similar record in the system and displays a dialog box as below.

You’re unsure if this is a true new contact (one that has the same name as an existing contact) or a duplicate record, so you click Ignore and Save.
Next, you go to the My Active Contacts list and see that you have two records with the same name now. After reviewing the records, you decide that they’re duplicates that need to be merged.

Merge duplicate records
- Select the duplicate records, and then click Merge.

- In the Merge Records dialog box, select the master record (the one you want to keep), and then choose any fields in the new record that you want to merge into the master record. Data in these fields may override the existing data in the master record. Click OK.

If you follow these simple methods, you will have clean Contacts data in your Dynamics 365 Sales system. If you find this subject useful, you can watch more videos about Dynamics 365 Sales here.
