How to Correct General Ledger Out-of-Balance in Microsoft Dynamics SL Cash Manager: Queue-Tips

Microsoft Dynamics SL Cash Manager, like every other accounting system, is designed to ensure that all the entities are balanced as they move into general ledger. Nevertheless, it is not uncommon to encounter out-of-balance issues occasionally.
An out-of-balance general ledger means your debit does not equal your credit, i.e. when Cash and GL balances do not reconcile in cash manager.
Although it is true that cash manager will reconcile and probably clear itself out in the following month, you can, if you are curious, run a detailed ledger report to determine the cause. It is relatively easy to resolve this issue once the period that caused the out-of-balance error is determined.
When you run a detailed ledger report using the information in the selection below, it will display all transactions in the general ledger with dates not in the period that you have selected for your cash account.

To facilitate this:
- Change the account to your cash account.
- Add the date range to cover the period for which you are running the report
On the select tab
vr_01620.GLTran_TranDate Not between 10/1/2021, 10/31/2021(Date range of period)
vr_01620.AcctHist_Acct Equal your cash account number

This returns what was entered with a transaction date that does not fall within the month. This should be your GL out-of-balance amount.
With the cause of an out-of-balance result determined, you can create a journal entry to correct the entry dates, resulting in a balanced General Ledger.
