Adding New Fields to Existing Lead Views in Microsoft CRM & Performing Advanced Find Queries

Adding a New Field to an Existing Lead View
In the latest edition of Queue Tips, we help you to resolve problematic issues with adding New Fields to existing Lead Views in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and performing Advanced Find Queries.
It can certainly be tricky to add new fields to an existing Lead View in CRM. For example, you may want to add a “Company” field, but you cannot find it in the dropdown menu.
To resolve this issue:
- First, choose any other entity from the “Record Type” dropdown
- Then, switch back to the Lead entity
- Click on the Display Name Column and sort and re-sort
- You will now see the “Company” field appearing between “City” and “Completion Date”

Performing an Advanced Find Query
Within a view, you may have attempted to filter by a specific column to find out that the sort option for that column is unavailable or tried performing an Advanced Find Query, and the field you want to filter against does not display. In this case, the field is likely not defined as “Searchable.”
Recommended Resolution Path:
Settings -> Customizations -> Customize the System -> Expand Entities node -> Select Entity and expand -> Fields node -> Select Field -> Change Searchable to Yes -> Save, Close and Publish

Additional Tip: When creating a View, you cannot configure sorting on a column related to the entity. Remember that you can only configure sorting on the entity associated with the view.
